Denbigh Town Football Club are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Luke Wilmot has been promoted to Player-Goalkeeper Coach.
23-year old Wilmot joined the club in the summer and has appeared three times so far this season between the sticks, and now commits himself further at Central Park in a coaching capacity.
Wilmot has already began his coaching career with Rhyl Albion in the North Wales Coast Football League and now brings his knowledge to the club in an enhanced role.
“Really happy to be a part of the coaching staff here, there’s a lot of potential in the squad we have, and I’m buzzing to be a part of the project we have going on, on and off the pitch” said Wilmot.
“It’s also a great opportunity to work with Aaron [Jones], having known Aaron for many many years, I know exactly what he’s capable of and I hope I can help him to further his ability”
Wilmot spent time in the academy at Rhyl before switching to St Asaph City where he made his senior debut. After time with Kinmel Bay and Prestatyn Sports he returned to Rhyl making 24 appearances for the Lock Stock Ardal North-West side.
He began a coaching role with Rhyl Albion this season alongside signing for Denbigh and will continue that whilst specialising in the goalkeeping department at Central Park.
“I’m really pleased that Luke has stepped up into the role” said manager Dewi Llion.
“He’s been a fantastic character since arriving in the summer and someone who has stepped up well when we’ve needed him on the pitch.
“He’s got great experience even at a young age and will benefit us hugely with his knowledge and enthusiasm, I look forward to having him on my staff”.
Congratulations, Luke!
