The game played on a wet and windy afternoon on a narrow pitch made any type of passing football redundant as both sides played the ball rather long hoping for mistakes rather than creating clear cut chances. Gareth Roberts in the Denbigh goal was the hero early on as he made two outstanding saves after long throws into the box but after twenty five minutes he was beaten by a free kick from close to the half way line which caught in the wind and bounced awkwardly and finished in the top corner to give Glan the lead.

Denbigh re-doubled their effort but apart for a long distant effort from Mark Roberts the home defence coped easily with any attacks but as half time approached the home side indiscipline came to the fore as their striker was sent off for raising his arms.

In the second half Denbigh tried to take advantage of the extra man but generally the home defence coped admirably, helped by poor decision making by the visitors.
Eventually twenty minutes into the second half a good passing movement started by Gethin Lloyd at the back released Eilir Edwards who played a delightful ball through to Mark Roberts who out- muscled the centre half and scored a powerful shot across the keeper to the top corner. Again the indiscipline raised it’s ugly head as the centre half was sent off for abusing and ranting at the referee.

Denbigh smelt the victory and although having a lot of possession did not create clear cut chances as wrong options were taken with Glan defending deep and breaking quickly were still in the game. The odds turned even more against them five minutes from time as another player was sent off for a second yellow card and with time running out it was left to Eilir Edwards to gain the three points for Denbigh with a good finish to an extraordinary game which saw three men sent off in the game and a further one after the game and yet there was hardly a foul in the game itself.
