Denbigh Town’s final home game of the campaign has finally arrived as Dewi Llion’s side face Llay Welfare at Central Park.
With Town looking to finish as well as possible and the visitors looking to lift themselves from the bottom, both sides have plenty to play for.
Denbigh Town v Llay Welfare
Date: 04/04/2025
Kick-Off: 19:45
Location: Central Park
Competition: JD Cymru North
Form
Town come into the game on the back of their first defeat in five games last weekend. Denbigh took on league leaders Colwyn Bay where a narrow 1-0 win for the Seagulls saw the unbeaten streak come to a halt. Last time out at home Town took on relegation-threatened Bangor 1876 where Alfie Vaughan’s brace saw off the Citizen in a 2-1 success.
Llay registered their first win since November last weekend when they played host to Prestatyn Town. Jonathan Collo gave the Welly the lead before two goals in as many minutes for the visitors turned the game on it’s head. However, Collo levelled on 24 minutes before Harry Cartwright bagged the winner with eight to play. It was their first win since beating Denbigh at the back end of November and ended a run of 13 without success.
Head to Head
These two sides have met twice already this season in the JD Cymru North and Nathaniel MG Cup. Llay won both games with Denbigh’s jinx at the Ring lasting over half a century. Lay won 3-2 in the cup before a 3-1 success in November.
Our last meeting at Central Park came in March 2023 in the Lock Stock Ardal North-West where goals from Ben Lockley, Jason Foulkes, Luca Bennett and Matthew Worrall secured a 4-0 win. All three of our last games against Llay have come away from home however, with Welfare winning each of them.
Stat Pack
Nathan Brown remains in search of one more goal for his 50th in the league for Denbigh.
Owen Davies requires one more goal for his 25th for the club and 30th overall.
Denbigh will look to extend their unbeaten run when it comes to the final home game of the season, having last lost to Llanfair United in April 2017.
Llay are looking for their first away victory in the JD Cymru North this season, with this being their final chance to get it.
