Denbigh Town return to the road this weekend with a lengthy journey to Clos Mytton to take on Guilsfield.
Guilsfield v Denbigh Town
Date: 02/11/2024
Kick-Off: 14:00
Location: Clos Mytton, Guilsfield
Competition: JD Cymru North
Form
Town come into this without a defeat in five games in all competitions and now look to make it six. Last time out they took on Llandudno where Ben Lockley opened the scoring on three minutes before being pulled back. However, Keelan Williams and Nathan Brown netted before the break. Brown and Williams netted again in the second half along with a first goal for youngster Tom Salisbury. It made it five games unbeaten after wins over Llangefni, Bangor and Holywell as well as a draw with Mold.
Guilsfield travelled to Bala last weekend to take on Ruthin where a goal in the opening half hour and one in stoppage time saw Guilsfield succumb to five defeats on the trot. A week previous they exited the Nathaniel MG Cup away at Connah’s Quay Nomads. The 5-0 loss to the Nomads was the third game in a row that Guilsfield had let in five, doing so against Colwyn Bay and Caersws beforehand.
Head-to-Head
These two sides have met twice in 2024 both games coming within a month of eachother. The latest came ‘away’ at Guilsfield, but was played at Newtown’s Latham Park due to the weather. Guilsfield came out on top in a 4-1 thumping, with Dion Gibbins grabbing a late consolation.
The last time we met at Central Park came in February where, in a back and forth game, Jamie Hyne gave Guilsfield the lead before Josh Lock equalised. Iwan Matthews nuded the visitors back in front before Owen Davies scored in the third minute of stoppage time to snatch a point.
Our last meeting at Clos Mytton though came in February 2019 where Kristian Pierce goal secured a 1-0 win for Denbigh. Guilsfield’s last win at Clos Mytton over Denbigh came in September 2016, triumphing 5-0.
Stat Pack
Denbigh Town have had 148 different goal scorers in the second tier since first entering the Cymru Alliance/North in 1996. One of Sion Jones, Keiron Roberts, Harry Lockley, Max Cooke, Iwan Roberts, Calum Butler, Alfie Vaughan or Mackenzie Stark could do grab the 150th should more than one of them score this weekend.
Owen Davies requires one more goal to enter the top ten for goal scorers for the club in the second tier.
Harry Lockley could make his 25th league appearance for the club this weekend.
Denbigh are looking to go unbeaten in six games for the first time since February 2023. They’re looking to go four-games unbeaten away from home for the first time since March 2023.
