- Looking ahead to the Reserves Campaign

Denbigh Town Reserves have a new look for a new era this season with a new man at the helm and a young squad raring to go for the season.

Jordan Baker’s side go into the new campaign with a trip to NFA U23 and will be full of optimism following a solid pre-season.

New Faces

Jordan Baker returned to the club in June to take the reigns of Reserves manager and will be assisted by Aaron Evans and Richard Morris. Sion Jones who joined the set-up last year also returns as the quartet look to take the side forward this year.

A number of new signings have been made and a host of junior graduates taking their first steps into senior football.

Goalkeeper Alistair Macauley joined the club in the summer having spent time with Gronant and will battle it out with graduate Rory Wynne between the sticks. Rhodri Edwards, Aled Jones, Harri Redgrave, Sam Hughes, Ossian Jones, Aled Hughes, Tomos Jones and Serhad Kanli all make the step up to senior football for the first time.

Alongside them is another graduate in Tom Salisbury who made his JD Cymru North debut at 16 last weekend and has spent time with both the First team and Reserves.

Other new signings include Benjamin Ellis and Callum Foster from St Asaph City, Ianto Jones from Bala Town and Will Dyment who was most recently with Llandyrnog United. Morgan Fricker recently joined from Airbus UK Broughton and has been involved with the Reserves.

Leading from the front

Baker recently named his captains for the new campaign with long-serving midfielder Lewis Devine taking the armband. The 20-year old will lead the side with Tommy Hughes appointed vice-captain. Ryan Roberts in his seventh year at Central Park will be Club Captain for the Reserves.

Pre-Season

It’s been a busy summer with seven matches across the pre-season campaign. It began with a 3-3 draw against Gronant before a 4-1 away win over Connah’s Quay Nomads U18. Those results were followed up with a 6-2 away win at Llanfairfechan Town and sole defeat of the summer to Bow.

A 4-0 thumping of Prestatyn Town Reserves and 5-2 away win over Kinmel Bay Reserves led to a 3-3 draw with Caernarfon Town Development in an action-packed month.

Opening Day

Town travel to NFA U23s on Friday evening to kick off the new season in the revamped FAW Reserve League North East. The game gets underway at 19:00 at Ffordd Derwen in Rhyl. It’ll be the first competitive game of the season before a trip to Mold next week.
