Denbigh Town Football Club are pleased to announce that First-Team Coach Matthew Jones has been promoted to Assistant Manager.
Jones, 37, returned to the club in the summer of 2022 earning a league and cup double as a coach having previously managed elsewhere.
“I am both delighted and proud to move into the role of assistant manager at Denbigh” said Jones.
“To be working alongside one of my best friends, all the new staff that have come in and an exciting group of players is fantastic, and I’m looking forward to the next part of this journey”.
Manager Dewi Llion has made a number of appointments including that of Phil Hudson, Simon Roberts, Jordan Scott and Ben Hughes and now Jones’ new role solidifies the First Team setup.
“Matty is someone who I know I can trust implicitly and has immense qualities as both a coach and as a person” said the Town boss.
“He has vast experience across North Wales and having worked together for so long I know he’s ideal for the role, I couldn’t be happier that he’s accepted the challenge.
“The team we have of myself, Matty, Phil, Jordan, Ben and Simon is a great blend of fresh ideas that will move the club forward from what has been a great start to life back at this level”.
The new assistant has a long-standing history with Denbigh Town having coached with the r Reserves and first team before his initial departure that led him to coaching roles with Llandudno Junction and Rhyl.
He took up the managers’ role with the latter in 2017 before returning to Denbigh in 2018 as joint-manager with Dewi Llion.
Jones stepped down in 2019 before taking the reigns at Llandudno FC and later Conwy Borough in the JD Cymru North, but came back to Central Park in 2022 delivering immediate success.
Congratulations, Matty!
