- Town record first summer victory

Denbigh Town picked up their first victory of the summer on Friday night with a 2-1 turnaround win over Llanuwchllyn.

Owen Davies levelled for Town before a Nathan Brown free-kick handed Dewi Llion’s side their first victory of the summer.

Town began the game strong as Iwan Roberts, back on his old stomping ground, pinged a superb forward pass to a Trialist who flashed an effort wide from the left three minutes in.

Moments later the home side came close when a ball from the left channel whizzed across the face of goal but an onrushing attacker was unable to connect just yards out.

With nine minutes on the clock the Denbigh Trialist was at it again, picking the ball up wide left before forcing the goalkeeper into a low stop with a low effort.

14 minutes in however it was Llanuwchllyn who took the lead when ths time down the right a cross found a forward who finished from close range.

Town replied perfectly six minutes later when Iwan Roberts fed a great ball into Davies who at an angle on the left of the box rolled the ball home past the hosts’ custodian.

Davies almost had a second moments later when a fizzed pass from Kyle Cooper found Paul Fleming, he laid it to the Trialist who in turn provided the ball to Davies in the middle of the box, he jostled for position before his shot was deflected harmlessly by the defender towards the keeper. Davies, a live wire in the first half then had an effort drag wide a minute later.

Pre-Season is perfect for trying new things and a corner routine that begun with Brown found Davies who eventually fired over the bar from range.

Half-Time: Llanuwchllyn 1-1 Denbigh Town

11 minutes into the second period Denbigh saw their pressure pay off, this time Olly Hansen did well to move forward before he was hacked down on the edge of the box. Brown stepped up and curled an effort on to the left post before nestling in the back of the net.

The second half saw less clear cut chances than it’s opening counterpart, but there remained some theatrics. With 22 minutes to play an overhead kick from a Llanuwchllyn attacker was brilliantly saved by a Trialist goalkeeper.

The aforementioned Trialist was kept busy making a string of great saves to keep Denbigh in front as they looked to deny Llanuwchllyn whilst adding to the scoreline themselves.

Cooper’s cross with 79 minutes gone almost doubled the advantage when he found Davies at the back post, but the youngster’s effort was met by the near post.

The final chance of note came with eight minutes to spare as Town rushed forward before the ball dropped for Cal Butler, but his volley flew wide.

Town’s final match of the summer comes on Tuesday with a trip to TNS before beginning the competitive season away at Llay Welfare in the Nathaniel MG Cup on Friday.
